The Elite Language Institute provides a unique combination of instruction in cyber and spoken languages.

The cyber language curriculum emphasizes training in most commonly used software programs in the business world such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrontPage, and QuickBooks.

The spoken language curriculum focuses on English language acquisition allowing students to combine written computer skills with excellent spoken English.

-English as a Second Language

classThe ESL courses at ELI will prepare students for the American workplace by emphasizing spoken English Language skills. Each course is designed to promote and practice English fluency.

ESL is exempt by the Texas Workforce Commission but certified by SEVIS.

  * Intensive Beginning English (ESL LEVEL I & II)
The Intensive Beginning English program consists of two levels, each consisting of 288 hours. Students are tested at the end of each level before moving on to the next.
At the end of the Intensive Beginning English Program, students will have a basic understanding of oral and written English, use elements of grammar and form short written and oral sentences, outline some aspects of American culture and civilization, read simple authentic literary and cultural texts, write structured and short compositions, and practice basic oral communicative exchange.

Core Session: Grammar, reading and writing skills, listening and speaking skills.
Elective Session: Conversation, vocabulary and accent reduction. This session focuses on the students' ability to express themselves in everyday situations. Students work on pronunciation, vocabulary and idioms to further develop their conversational skills. They also receive individualized feedback to improve their grammar and pronunciation skills.

  * Intensive Intermediate English (ESL LEVEL III & IV)
IPrerequisite: Intensive Beginning English Level II
The Intensive Intermediate English program consists of two levels, each consisting of 288 hours. Students are tested at the end of each level before moving on to the next. At the end of the Intensive Intermediate program, students will have reviewed basic English grammar and expanded their vocabulary and use of idioms; they will be able to demonstrate an intermediate understanding of oral and written English, use most elements of grammar and form written and oral sentences, outline many aspects of American culture and civilization, read authentic literary and cultural texts and write structured and short compositions.

Prerequisite: Intensive Intermediate English level IV
The High Intermediate Intensive English program consists of two levels, each consisting of 288 hours. Students are tested at the end of each level before moving on to the next. At the end of the High Intermediate class, students will have reviewed basic English grammar and expanded their vocabulary and use of idioms; they will be able to demonstrate an intermediate understanding of oral and written English, use most elements of grammar and form written and oral sentences, outline many aspects of American culture and civilization, read authentic literary and cultural texts and write structured and short compositions.

  * WORKPLACE I & II
Prerequisite: Intensive Intermediate English Level IV
This course provides ESL instruction to students who have already worked in an occupation in their native country and who need some additional support acquiring English language skills. This course will equip students with the skills they need to find employment in that career in the United States .
  * TOEFL I (iBT Prerequisite)
Prerequisite: Intensive High Intermediate English Level VI
The Intensive Advanced English program consists of two levels, each consisting of 96 hours. Students are tested at the end of each level before moving on to the next. At the end of the Intensive Advanced English Program, students will have reviewed all facets of English grammar and expanded their vocabulary and use of idioms. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to satisfactorily complete the TOEFL-iBT placement test.

Core Session: Grammar, reading and writing skills, listening and speaking skills. Elective Session: Conversation, vocabulary and accent reduction. This session focuses on the students' ability to express themselves in everyday situations. Students work on pronunciation, vocabulary and idioms to further develop their conversational skills. They also receive individualized feedback to improve their grammar and pronunciation skills.

TOEFL II (iBT)
Prerequisite: TOEFL I or TOEFL Diagnostic Pretest with a score of 480 (paper based test) or higher
Our students are among the most successful candidates for the new TOEFL iBT. Their results are a tribute to the effectiveness of our Intensive English program. Students enrolled in the advanced program receive test-taking skills for the TOEFL and individualized feedback as needed, in addition to pronunciation, vocabulary and idioms. Full-length practice tests simulate actual TOEFL test conditions as much as possible. Diagnostic tests pinpoint problem areas, and all sections - listening, grammar and reading - are given back-to-back and are timed.

Our teachers work with you on computer-aided programs that include past examinations to sharpen your exam taking technique. You receive ample training and will be well prepared to take the TOEFL iBT test.

classThe computer courses at ELI will prepare students for professional careers. Courses are available for all levels of proficiency. Upon completion of each course students will have working knowledge of the essential computer skills needed for today’s fast-paced business climate. Computer program is regulated and certified by SEVIS and TWFC.

Learn how to create, edit, save documents, and learn text formatting techniques. Then, learn more intermediate and advanced techniques such as using enhanced shortcuts, mail merge, and multilingual toolkits.
* MICROSOFT EXCEL
Learn to use the software program that is the industry standard for basic spreadsheets. From the very basics to more advanced skills, you will discover what you need to know to successfully use Excel in the workplace.
* MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
Learn to create professional quality PowerPoint presentations starting with the basics and then advancing to more complex applications in later levels. Some advanced skills you will learn include creating multimedia presentations with links to spreadsheets, graphs, and self playing “movies”.
* MICROSOFT FRONTPAGE
Learn to develop informative and interactive professional quality websites. This includes learning to format pages, create tables, link to other websites, insert photos, use table design techniques, frame pages, and many other web development skills.
* QUICKBOOKS
Learn to keep your business books straight. You will have hands on training that teaches you how to print checks, pay bills, track expenses, invoice customers, track payments & sales taxes, create purchase orders, and more!
